Fall Break Hangout Rapokki Cooking

Image
Thanks for hanging out with us during Fall Break.  We made an awesome recipe together.  It's called Rapokki because it combines ramen with topokki (Korean mochi sticks) to make a hot creamy mess! It's so ono and so easy to make that everyone can try it at home.   Ingredients: 1 package of Korean ramen, 4 oz of fish cake, 4 oz of topokki, 1/2 cup of heavy cream, cheese, egg, chopped green onions, dashi (fish broth base, optional).  Note: You can get most of the ingredients at a Korean market like Palama Market or H-Mart. Nothing is exact, you can add or remove to your liking.  Be creative and improvise!   1. Rinse the topokki under water or give it a soak for 10 a few minutes 2. Cut the fish cake into your desired shape 3. Add dashi to 4 cups of water and bring to a boil.  Then add in cut fish cake and topokki.  You can remove the dashi pouch now. 4. Add the ramen seasoning packet to the pot.  Let it simmer on medium heat for 10 minu...

When You Need Someone To Tell You The Truth

Image
This next 3 weeks, we will discuss on how to Break Down The Barriers of Life with the emphasis on relationships and how others can help us move through life further faster.   Today's story reminds us that God uses Spiritual Leaders in our lives to do good.  They may have to speak stern words but all in all, they mean well.  Spiritual Leaders hold themselves in greater accountability than anyone else.   In this story, we saw three things that Prophet Samuel did to King Saul.    Samuel calls Saul To Be King (1 Sam. 9:15-17; 10:20-24) Samuel calls out Saul's Impatience (1 Sam. 13:7-14) Samuel calls out Saul's Rebellion to God (1 Sam. 15:10-15; 20-23) These are the five principles we learn on what Spiritual Leaders do in our lives. Spiritual leaders see potential that none others see. Spiritual leaders invests until they see a return. Spiritual leaders expose imperfections Spiritual leaders exercise discernment Spiritual leaders correct rebellion Here...

Remain Steadfast

Image
I want to thank Pastor Jim Breckenridge who preached for us the past three Sundays challenging us to remain steadfast and chose Jesus in everything.  This is a timely reminder as we experience a new restriction in the fight over COVID-19.   Pastor Jim has traveled back to Virginia and will continue to serve as Army Chaplain.    Let's continue to pray for the college students who had already made a transition or are about to move to the mainland.  I want us also to pray and welcome back those who have traveled to be with their family.    These next Sundays, we will look at what it means to move forward when you feel stuck by looking at interesting bible characters of the Old Testament.   This study will focus on helping you take a step back, refocus on vision, take a gutsy move like undoing what does not work, and taking a calculative move that is filled with hope and faith.    Living Faith Baptist Church 477 N. 8/22/21 Reproved and Restored (John 21:1-22)

Image
  1. Peter was impetuous (impulsive), both in his words and actions, throughout Jesus’ earthly ministry. When is it good to be this way? When is it bad? Examples from the Bible may provide some clues.  2. How were Jesus’ words to Peter a restoration of a right relationship between them? What does this say about my walk with Christ? 3. What does Peter’s question about John have to tell me about the mission that Christ has for me? What should be my response to that mission?

8/15/21 Go Back On God (Matt 26:57-73)

Image
1. How was Jesus' statement in Matthew 26:64 a rebuke to the High Priest?  How should it change our outlook and actions? 2. Unlike the other disciples, Peter followed Jesus to his trial, but at a distance.  In what ways do we try to "straddle the fence" and in what concrete ways can we correct such fence-straddling? 3. At the Last Supper, Peter claimed to be ready to follow - and die for Jesus if necessary, but when the crisis came, Peter failed and was deeply ashamed.  How can we be ready for the spiritual battles that has planned for us?

08-08-21 All Will Be Offended (Matthew 26:31-56)

(*) Priority 1. Jesus, quoting Zechariah 13:7, said "smite the Shepherd and the sheep will be scattered". When have you felt:  a. Leaderless? b. Purposeless? c. Had trouble making a major decision? *2. In what ways have you, in effect, denied Christ before others? *3. In what way have you compared yourself favorably to other: a. Christians? b. Non-Christians? What should be our attitude toward others? *4. When were either "asleep" or "awake" to the spiritual battle around you? 5. When did you try to fight a spiritual battle either: a. In your own flesh; or  b. On your own terms; rather than through Christ or on his term?  What were the results? Click here for next steps:  Connection Card

Thank You For Joining Us - 06-06-2021

Aloha,  Thank you for joining us last Sunday.  It was good to connect with you and to hear how you have a long-standing relationship with Living Faith Baptist Church.   You have caught us in the middle of our "Make Disciples" Series.   Jesus said,  There are two invitations Jesus calls us to embrace.  First, He asks us to be his disciple.   If you are already a follower of Jesus, remind yourself daily of this awesome privilege.  Second, He calls us to make disciples.   He wants us to see that every person is a potential follower of Christ.  No matter where you go, remind yourself of the privilege of being called a child of God, and let's obey Him by sharing Jesus with others.   Here at Living Faith Baptist Church, we desire that you grow in Christ.  You may join us on Saturday prayer, online small groups and discipleships and online service.  Get connected with us through livingfaithhawaii.org or a...

Thank you for your presence last sunday

Image
Aloha!  God has amazingly blessed us last Sunday because of your presence.  With that, I want to thank you.   Our topic of "Overcoming Fears of Making Disciples"  is a lesson to all of us.  Beyond the principles we learned, God wants to encourage us to develop faith.    Jesus said, If you can have faith as size of a mustard seed, you can ask this mountain to move from here to there and it will move (Matthew 17:20).   We hope and pray that your faith had been strengthened last Sunday. We hope your faith remains strong throughout this week.   Living Faith Baptist Church has many opportunities to strengthen someone's faith:  Small Groups Ministries - different ages and different days of the week Church Prayer Time - Saturday morning via Zoom Worship Service - Sunday, 9:30am Fellowship Groups - Sunday, 10:45am We hope you can find your way back again to Living Faith Baptist Church.  Let Annie at annie.k.y.lam@gmail.com...

He is risen indeed!!! Mahalo!

What a glorious resurrection Sunday celebration we just had.   Beyond the message, music, presentations, food, and fellowship, your presence made all the difference.  Because of people like you, our church broke the attendance barrier.  It only makes sense to thank you.   In John 20:19-29, the disciples of Jesus gathered after Easter and one of their friends missed the gathering.  The others made an effort to encourage him to come.  He responded,  “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe. ”  Kudos to these disciples, this man attended the next week's gathering, and guess who showed up?  Jesus!  Jesus asked him,   “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe."  He knelt down and confessed,  "My Lord and My God!"   This is why, for ages,  this man ...

A Call To Prayer - January 2021 Pastors Newsletter

Image
Aloha Dear Church Family,  Last Wednesday, our United States of America went through a horrific ordeal where the Capitol was breached by rioting individuals and eventually killing people.   Succeeding events is a whirlwind of political maneuvers.  Whatever your political conviction, you and I will agree that our nation needs a bigger and greater help.    Our nation is hurting and all of us are affected.   Only Jesus can offer peace and hope to every individual of our beloved country.   This is one of the many promises Jesus gives to those who follow Him.   He said in John 14:27: A CALL TO PRAYER Beginning today, I am calling our congregation to set a time to pray for our nation.  Every day let's pause for a few minutes at 1:20pm until 1/20 (January 20) when the new president is sworn in.    Pray for the outgoing Vice President Mike Pence as he plays a crucial role in the power of balance.  Pray for hi...
